Chatambinadu-Mammootty Shafi Team again after Mayavi

Prithviraj, Kunchako Boban, Jayasurya, Roma and Bhavana enacted characters in Shafi’s last flick Lollypop.


Lollypop was miserable and a failure. Now Shafi is experimenting his old formula with Mammootty as hero.

Shafi, who is the brother of Rafi of Rafi Mecartin, rose to fame with his through out comedy movies. He reached his peak was Pulival Kalyanam and Kalyanaraman. From there his movies started downhill.

Shafi put all his faith again with writer Benny.P.Nayarambalam for this Megastar movie. The film was titled Malabar Chattambi but is now changed as Chattambi Naadu.

This is Mammootty’s third flick with Shafi. The duo has earlier teamed up successfully for Mayavi and Thommanum Makkalum.

Chattambinadu is comedy based action thriller where Mammootty plays Veerendra Mallaya, a Karnataka-based Malayalee estate owner with Kannada accent, his accent and mannerisms are the highlights of this movie.

Lakshmi Rai is the lead actress. This is third time Lakshmi Rai teams up with Mammootty, the earlier being Annan Thambi and Parunthu. Mukesh will be seen in an important role. Salim Kumar and Suraj Venjarammood will add glittery to the film.

Mammootty's latest films Pattanathil Bhootham and Daddy Cool haven’t made much impact among viewers. Both were targeted to children. His mega movie Pazhassiraja has hit the screens last week. Earlier to Pazhassiraja, Mammootty film 'Loudspeaker' became a success.

Happy Husbands : Jayaram, Jayasurya and Indrajith

Happy Husbands is a family oriented comedy film which has Jayaram, Indrajith and Jayasurya in the lead roles with Bhavana, Vandana and Samvrutha Sunil playing their wives. 

Saji Surendran who has directed Ivar Vivaahitharayaal is directing this movie. The script is written by Krishna Poojapura and the shooting has started.

Happy Husbands is about three jolly good guys and their beautiful wives. The film is about the misunderstanding created by the character played by Rima Kallingal in the life of these pairs.
The movie which revolves around family relationships is laced with humor. Salimkumar and Suraj Venjaramoodu play key roles in the movie,

Revathy Kala Mandhir which produced the film Seetha Kalyanam has decided to release the flick soon. The film directed by T K Rajeev Kumar was completed months back and was in the cans for long. 

The highlight of the film was the appearance of then hot southern star Jyothika in a Malayalam movie as a heroine. But now Jyothika is married to star Surya and she is not acting in any films. The story of Seetha Kalyanam is about friendship between Brahmin Jayaram and Jyothika, who works with him.

The film is the only project of Jayaram to be released. Jyothika appears as the female lead in the film, which also has Indrajith, Geethu Mohandas, Jagdish, Janardhanan, Siddique, Bhiman Raghu, Manorama, Devi Ajith, Bindu Panicker, Kalpana etc. 

The music release of the film was done last year by A R Rehman, who was there to wish his friend Srinivas debuting into music direction. The music which started appearing in TV channels hasn’t generated great enthusiasm among audience. 

The producer and filmmaker is now betting on Jayaram’s renewed position in Malayalam industry after the hit Veruthe Oru Bharya.

The scenes of the flick are canned by Rajeev Ravi who’s other noted work in Malayalam was Classmates. Lyrics are penned by BR Prasad. Stills of this film are captured by Hari Thirumala. Meneka Suresh Kumar is the producer of Seetha Kalyanam.

Wake Up Sid is the coming-of-age story of a slacker named Sid, played by Ranbir Kapoor. In a wonderfully done title sequence, debutant director Ayan Mukherji shows us Sid struggling with accounting the night before his final exam. He’s had four cups of coffee and stays up till 3 am but he doesn’t get past the first question.

Unfortunately the film doesn’t maintain this crackling momentum and becomes a patchy, predictable story held together by the sheer prowess of Ranbir. Ayan, working from his own story and screenplay, skillfully creates Sid’s state of arrested development.

This is the kind of collegiate who sleeps in Sponge Bob sheets, doesn’t last one week in his father’s bathroom furnishing business, which he describes as full-onpakao, and has no ambition or plans for the future apart from getting drunk. Sid meets Aeysha, played by Konkona Sen Sharma, a slightly older, more mature and focused girl, who moves to Mumbai from Kolkatta to create an independent life for herself.

The two, polar opposites, become friends though she’s quick to explain that he is not her type. She is looking for a man, not a boy. Eventually, Aeysha helps Sid grow up. He discovers that life is a little more complicated than the comic books he reads.Wake Up Sid has honesty and freshness. Ayan creates some genuinely tender and moving moments.

There is a lovely little scene in which Sid makes an impromptu cake for Aeysha’s birthday. And Sid’s confrontation with his parents packs a wallop. However, Ayan isn’t as successful at stringing together the moments.

The pacing in the first half is very slow. Towards interval, the film gathers an emotional momentum but afterward it becomes slack again. The bigger problem is that the crisis of the characters never feels sufficiently awful or urgent.

This is a Karan Johar production so reality is severely air-brushed. Nothing really bad ever happens to Sid or Ayesha. Within days of arrival she finds a lovely, airy, affordable flat and a job at the city’s hippest magazine, Mumbai Beat. Within months, the magazine’s super-cool editor is dating her and she has her own column.

Sid doesn’t get too sweaty either. He gets an internship at the same magazine, which becomes a job as assistant photographer. After one dressing-down from Ayesha, he also starts to clean the house, do the dishes and even wash the dirty laundry by hand. It’s all so quick and convenient that Sid’s struggle to find his voice and identity seems half-baked.

Paleri Manikyam

Paleri Manikyam is an upcoming Movie from megastar Mammootty, directed by Ranjith. The movie also stars Gowri Munjal, Srinivasan, Vijaya Raghavan, Mukesh, Siddique, Salim Kumar, Kalpana, Swetha Menon, stage India Vikraman Nair, Sasi Kalinga and a number of drama artistes selected after a camp conducted by Ranjit with the help of veteran actors.

The movie will be an Investigative Thriller. Mammootty and Ranjith are joining once again for this much expected movie.

The movie is based on a novel by T.P Rajeevan named Paleri Manikyam - Oru Pathira Kolapathaka Katha.

Earlier part of the film is shot in Delhi, while the later parts are shot at Paleri near Calicut and also Palakkad.

Whats Your Raashee : Romantic comedy Releasing on 25th Sept

Ashutosh Gowariker is threading a new line with his upcoming romantic comedy staring Priyanka Chopra and Harman Baweja after delivering magnum opus JodhaAkbar.The entire movie is shot in a single start-to-end schedule with around 65 locations in Mumbai. Some parts will be shot in Chicago and Baroda and shoot will be wrapped up by April.Film is based on a Gujrati novel Kimball Ravenswood by Shri Madhu Rye, and screenplay by Naushil Mehta and Ashutosh Gowariker. It is a story revolving around a Gujarati man in pursuit of his dream girl with the catch to find her within 10 days in order to save his family from an unforeseen ordeal, which leads to an array of confusion, chaos and a hilarious joy ride.Lyrics is by Javed Akhtar and music by Sohail Sen, A.R Rahman was approached but he wasn’t able to do the film because he was preoccupied with the work of Slumdog Millionaire Costume designed by Neeta Lulla, Art direction by Nitin Desai.The film is presented by UTV Motion Pictures and Ashutosh Gowariker. Productions and will be jointly produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Sunita A. Gowariker.

20-minute Salman in Main Aurr Mrs Khanna?

Is Salman Khan making a special appearance in Main aur Mrs Khanna, produced by brother Sohail Khan and UTV jointly? Is it not the main lead? That's what almost everyone in the industry believes. Almost everyone is under the impression that Salman makes a 20-minute appearance in the film.
"That's completely untrue," director Prem Soni says. "The fact is that Salman is the lead man of the film. He's not making a special appearance. It's a beautiful story of a married couple (Salman, Kareena) and would obviously be incomplete without them."
So how did these rumours originate?
"I'm clueless. We kept hearing these rumours earlier, but I chose to keep quiet about them because I wanted to complete the film and then clarify about it. Now that the film is complete, the world can have a look at the film and judge for themselves," the debutante director adds.
"We've shot the film in Australia (Melbourne), Thailand (Krabi) and India (Panchgani, Mumbai) and Salman has been a part of every schedule. It's their (Salman, Kareena) story. How could Salman not be there?"

Mohanlal And Suresh Gopi .Again............

Mohanlal will don an important role in film to be directed by debutant N.R. Sanjeev. Lal is set to play the role of an advocate, named Suryanarayanan. Mohanal and Suresh Gopi have lately joined hands in Rajeev Nath’s Pakal Nakshatrangal. They have been co actors in one of the greatest films in Malayalam Manichitrathazhu.Janakan belongs to the thriller genre and has Suresh Gopi in the role of a villager by the name Vishwanathan who is married to Nirmala played by Kaveri. They have a teenaged daughter. This character is performed by newcomer Priya. Vishwanathan best friends are characters done by Biju Menon and Harisree Asokan. In a circumstance Vishwanathan and his friends get involved in a murder and story is set as if Advocate Suryanarayanan, played by Mohanlal can only save them from court. Mohanlal will be seen in a 20 minute cameo role in Janakan as criminal lawyer he has a pivotal role to play. He had played a lawyer in Hello, but it hadn't featured any court scenes. The climax revolves around the question whether Advocate Suryanarayanan would be able to save Vishwanathan and his friends. This family crime thriller is scripted by S N Swamy Tamil villain Sampath, Vijayaraghavan, Ganesh Kumar, Vijayakumar, Jyothirmayi and Renjitha Menon also act in this movie. Earlier Jyothirmayi and Sindhu Menon were expected to be in key roles. Janakan has commenced shooting in Neyyattinkara. Mohanlal is expected to join the by 10th of September.Can Lal save Gopi and friends from this case, is what the climax is about. The film is produced by Arun and will be distributed by Maxlab Films.

Foes, sorry, you won't be able to lash out at him or pick on him or launch a vicious tirade this time. The spate of flops should come to a grinding halt with Wanted.
Let's get this straight. Wanted rides on Salman Khan's star power. He may not be the best actor in town, but in a film like Wanted, in a role that seems like an extension of his personality, you can't think of anyone else enacting this role with flourish.
A remake of Pokiri (made in Telugu and Tamil), Wanted is a full on masala film. Recall the successful potboilers of yore. Recall how the good guy would reduce 10 hoodlums to pulp in a fraction of seconds. Recall how heroism prevailed in the end, no matter how adverse the circumstances were or how powerful the villains would be. Recall those movies in which logic took a backseat since the focus was on entertainment. You relive those moments as reel after reel of Wanted unfolds.
A departure from candyfloss movies and diabetic-sweet characters that most Hindi movies boast of, Wanted takes you back to those days when popular cinema reigned supreme, when the sole motive of the film-maker was to entertain.
The daring hero and his herogiri, the naïve girlfriend, the corrupt cop, the dreaded don, the don's moll, the fist-clinching henchmen. Wanted is for those who seek unabashed entertainment and relish masala films. Damn the indomitable critics, pseudo intellectuals and connoisseurs of parallel cinema, this one's not for them. Wanted is for the aam junta.
Radhe (Salman Khan) is a hardcore gangster. A sharpshooter with a sharp brain, he works for Gani Bhai (Prakash Raj), the dreaded Mafioso, but on his own terms. Totally fearless, Radhe single-handedly eliminates Gani Bhai's enemies one by one; making more enemies in the process.
He's astounded when the young and pretty Jahnvi (Ayesha Takia Azmi) professes her liking for him. Inspector Talpade's (Mahesh Manjrekar) lustful eyes fall on Jahnvi. He doesn't know that Jahnvi has developed a soft corner for Radhe.
Whether it's the Golden Gang or Data Pawle's Gang, everybody wants the biggest piece of the lucrative cake that is Mumbai and the only way to get it is to eliminate whoever gets in the way. As Mumbai reels under bloody gang wars, Commissioner Ashraf Khan (Govind Namdeo) vows to make the city crime free.
Director Prabhu Dheva serves a hardcore masala fare that's not inventive or path-breaking by any standard, but the execution of several scenes as also of stunts takes the graph of the film north. In fact, if at all there's any film that competes with Ghajini as far as raw appeal goes, it's Wanted. Every action/stunt/chase here is choreographed with aplomb.
Watch out for the action sequence at the interval point or the penultimate half-an-hour. The climax is sure to send scores of action lovers in frenzy, as Salman bashes the evil forces black and blue. It wouldn't be erroneous to state that the climax is worth the price of the ticket, samosa, sandwich, popcorn, nachos and cola put together.

Loudspeaker review - Superb movie ...you must watch it

There are films, which make fan following for actors and there are films which try to satisfy fans so to sell tickets in theatre. Film Loud Speaker comes in the first category.After a lot of 'child play' in his recent movies, Mammootty is back where everyone wanted him to be. Mammootty’s less educated character have never failed to attract audience.Mike (Mammootty) arrives in city as a kidney donor to an aged wealthy man, Mr. Menon. As the operation date is not fixed he stays in a posh flat with Menon. Mike is a pure hearted villager who talks aloud and is happy. He carries an old battery operated radio always. He is much found of his deceased father and talks about the adventures of his father. The film is about the residents in flat, their budding relation with Mike, and about Menon’s Life. Loud Speaker is such a beautiful movie that viewers get sucked into. The story has innocence and humanity that makes the film good.Gracy Singh famous for her role in Lagaan is beautiful and maintains a natural relationship with Mike (Mammootty). After years Harisree Asokan is back with a refreshing comedy as Christian Priest.The film is nicely made though the director couldn’t patch up some scenes comfortably. The continuity in comedy part handled by Jagathy has not been maintained well. Suraj is ok, but has little freshness to offer. Yester year song ‘Alliyambal Kadavil…’ is used beautifully in this film. Mammootty and Jayaraj are able to convey emotion to the viewers. Jayaraj who is a minimalist in many films has used the optimum amount of resources to bring screen life to this heart warming story which flows as a river. Jayaraj is also the script writer of this film. The first half of the film doesn’t promises much but it’s the second half which scores. Most part of film takes place inside a flat. Loud Speaker can be considered one of the best films from this National award winner director. Loud Speaker is a film every Malayali should watch. This is a film with real characters and real emotions.

Mammootty is renowned for his love of experimenting. And in his latest film, Loud Speaker, he has tried out a new look - curly, gelled hair. 

Eighteen years after the breezy musical entertainer, Johnny Walker, director Jayaraj and Mammootty are teaming up for Loud Speaker, which is based on a script by Ranjit. 

Gracy Singh, the heroine from Lagaan, will be seen opposite Mammootty in the film. A musical comedy, the film is about a farmer who is popularly known as 'Mike' Gopalan because he speaks loudly! 

Nedumudi Venu, Innocent, Jagathy Sreekumar, Salim Kumar, Suraaj Venjaramoodu and Cochin Haneefa are also part of the cast.

It is the classic confrontation at the Kerala box-office this Ramzan weekend (Sep 18 to 20) as Kamal Hassan- Mohanlal thriller Unnaipol Oruvan releasing big, clashes with Mammootty’s Jayaraj directed Loud Speaker.

Both the films carry “super” pre-release reports, and the hype surrounding their release is huge, with Unnaipol Oruvan, having a slight edge as Mohanlal is coming together with Kamal Hassan for the first time. The “powerful combo” is enough for a bumper opening.

Jayaraj’s Loud Speaker is not a typical Mammootty mass film, but has potential to turn into a hit. The songs from the film are very good, especially the remix version of the evergreen classic song Aliambal Kadavil….

Meanwhile MA Nishad directed Vairam which features Tamil actor Pasupathi in the lead with Suresh Gopi, Mukesh and Samvrutha is also releasing on Sep 20. And another film which is releasing for Ramzan is Sooraj Venjaranmoodu’s first film as a full fledged hero Duplicate
