Palery Manikyam: Oru Pathirakkolapathakathinte Katha Review

Palery Manikyam: Oru Pathirakkolapathakathinte Katha is a very intriguing watch. It might not be liked by the common mass audience. But for people who like watching interesting stories and ideas and good cinema, without the trappings of usual commercial cinema, this film would be very interesting. Ranjith is slowly turning into a new-age Padmarajan of sorts. He is trying bold, mature and interesting themes (Thirakkatha, Kaiyyoppu) and daring experiments (Kerala Cafe) and his storytelling skill is intact in this new movie also. The movie is not suitable for children as it handles an adult theme and has certain scenes which may not be suitable for children to watch, even though they are done very aesthetically and effectively. Mammootty gives some neat performances in his different roles. It is great to have the actor in him back through movies like Loudspeaker, The movie has taken a good opening and it was great to see all kinds of people, including a lot of ladies, watching the movie on second day. With the help of some good marketing, this movie should end up being a success. With a spectacular performance that can leave you spellbound, Mammootty underlines why he is easily regarded among the best actors in the country. His charisma, screen presence and style give an altogether different meaning to the characters and his portrayal of Ahmed Haji will remain as one of the best to have happened in Malayalam films, ever.

Neelatamara review

Due to alliance between M.T Vasudevan Nair and ace director Lal Jose Neelathamara was a much anticipated movie. Interlaced with sensuality and romance, this film has gained attention from audience due to the presence of new comer Archana Kavi, who is been presented with a sultry tone.Neelathamara is a woman centric subject, the story is about the girl (Archana Kavi) coming as a house maid in a mansion to assist the landlady. Her son (Kailas) who return home after his studies take advantage of the maid, he later marries another woman. The story line is thin and the climax seems to be a full stop in the middle of story. The film hasn't got many characters; the director ensembles a fresh new cast including Kailas and Archana Kavi. The song 'Anuraga....' tuned by Vidyasagar got received well. Those who have an ear for music found similitude with 'Karimizhi Kuruvi ' from Meesa Madhavan and 'Poove Poove Paalappove' from Devadhoothan. With able direction from Lal Jose, cinematographer Vijay Ulaganath has successfully created moving frames with authentic look. Art direction from Gokul Das has immensely helped the film, Neelathamara, which is told in flash back.Neelathamara having duration of less than two hours would have been better if made as a short film.New hero Kailas was earlier seen in Anil directed 'Parthan Kanda Paralokam' in a small role. He rechristened as Kailas for the new avatar as central character in this movie. He has done well and can be considered a good addition to the youth in Malayalam film.Lal Jose has proved to be more truthful and dedicated to M.T than to the audience. This beautifully crafted movie may fade after the initial attraction.

Paleri Manikyam, Mammootty, Shwetha Menon

Superstar Mammootty and director Ranjith once again team up,it will result bring back yet another superhit movie called “Paleri Manikyam“. They have worked together as a team for four films like Black, Kaiyoppu, Prajapathi and Nasrani. This will also be the first time that Ranjith is going to make a film that is not scripted by himself.

The movie is based on a novel as explained earlier. In the movie Mammootty is introduced as an officer who tries to solve a murder case that is almost 53 years old.The film is also very special as several new faces will be introduced in the movie and that too stage performers as the movie needs a particular slang which can only be done by stage performers.A girl named Manikyam was brutally raped and also murdered on the 11th day of her marriage. But no one was able to find out the guilty person and so the case was closed. The incident took place in a place called “Paleri”, near Calicut. The director has decided to show a part of the life style of the early 1950’s. This was why he had to search out for professional stage performers as they were the only persons who could do those roles

Loudspeaker review - Superb movie ...you must watch it

There are films, which make fan following for actors and there are films which try to satisfy fans so to sell tickets in theatre. Film Loud Speaker comes in the first category. After a lot of 'child play' in his recent movies, Mammootty is back where everyone wanted him to be. Mammootty’s less educated character have never failed to attract audience.Mike (Mammootty) arrives in city as a kidney donor to an aged wealthy man, Mr. Menon. As the operation date is not fixed he stays in a posh flat with Menon. Mike is a pure hearted villager who talks aloud and is happy. He carries an old battery operated radio always. He is much found of his deceased father and talks about the adventures of his father. The film is about the residents in flat, their budding relation with Mike, and about Menon’s Life. Loud Speaker is such a beautiful movie that viewers get sucked into. The story has innocence and humanity that makes the film good.Gracy Singh famous for her role in Lagaan is beautiful and maintains a natural relationship with Mike (Mammootty). After years Harisree Asokan is back with a refreshing comedy as Christian Priest. The film is nicely made though the director couldn’t patch up some scenes comfortably. The continuity in comedy part handled by Jagathy has not been maintained well. Suraj is ok, but has little freshness to offer. Yester year song ‘Alliyambal Kadavil…’ is used beautifully in this film. Mammootty and Jayaraj are able to convey emotion to the viewers. Jayaraj who is a minimalist in many films has used the optimum amount of resources to bring screen life to this heart warming story which flows as a river. Jayaraj is also the script writer of this film. The first half of the film doesn’t promises much but it’s the second half which scores. Most part of film takes place inside a flat. Loud Speaker can be considered one of the best films from this National award winner director. Loud Speaker is a film every Malayali should watch. This is a film with real characters and real emotions.

Shankar speaks on Endhiran!

Shankar has given an interview to a Tamil daily where he has said: “ Endhiran is beyond imagination, with much grandeur and richness.

You can see the effort which is to be taken for 10 films in this one film. Rajni is such an amazing hero. Just words can’t describe his efforts.”

On Rajini’s look in the film, Shankar says “Sivaji was just a sample of how young the star can look. In Endhiran he will look even younger. For his make up things, we went to America and searched in many places but nothing came right. Then we tried in India and it worked out perfectly for the character he plays. Normally make-up, Kamal will only take efforts for make up is the public opinion. But in this film Rajni has taken amazing efforts as he waited patiently for two three hours to put up the make-up.”

On Aiswarya Rai- Rajinikanth screen combination, Shankar says: “There was terrific chemistry between them, as she plays a medical student. Shankar added that the film has “never before seen special effects and graphics.” They have used a technique called “Animatronics” the use of electronics and robotics in mechanised puppets (Robos) to make them appear to be alive.

Chiyaan Vikram Rocks again..............

Chiyaan Vikram has a winner in Kandasamy. It is pure commercial masala entertainer that strikes a fine balance between style and substance, and also has a neat message. Susi Ganeshan has constructed an engrossing action driven adventure with panache.
The film has all the trademark superhero-movie elements like flashy action scenes and eye-popping special effects. But in many ways, it is not the typical super-hero film that one imagines it to be. Well, that’s the twist in the tale which we will not reveal as it will be a spoiler.
