Dileep's Karyasthan is a mass comedy entertainer. The film is directed by the debutant director Thomson, who is script writer Sibi Thomas's brother. Karyasthan is produced by Aneeta. The film is scripted by Sibi Thomas - Udayakrishnan team.

The film has a huge star cast which includes almost all the leading faces of Malayalam cinema. Dileep dons the role of the Karyasthan (Caretaker), Krishnanunni. Akhila, finalist of Vodafone Thakadhimi, play the heroine in Karyasthan. She plays the role of Sribala.

Vandana, who got a break in 'Happy Husband', plays another lead role of Sreedevi from Puthezhathu Tharavadu. Vandana played Jayasurya's pair in Happy Husbands.

Madhu, Salim Kumar, Suraaj Venjaramood, Siddique, Ganesh Kumar, Harisree Asokan, Suresh Krishna, Janardhanan, Jagathy, Biju Menon, Sadique, Yadhukrishnan and many other prominent faces in Mollywood plays important roles in the movie.

Karyasthan tells the story of the competition between two big families. The famous Varikkassery Mana, which was seen in many Malayalam films earlier, is presented in a new form in this film. The big mana's Nalukettu is made as 'Puthezhadathu Tharavadu', while the 'pathayapura' of the mana is presented as 'Kizhakkedathu Tharadu'.

Both these families were very close before and they divide because of a particular reason and a wall is built between the houses and their problems increase day by day. Caretakers come and go in both the families. Krishnanunni comes as the new Karyasthan. He tries to solve the problems between the two houses.

Madhu play the role of Krishna Warrior of Kizhakkedathu tharavadu while G.K.Pillai play the role of Shankaran Nair, head of the two families.

Karyasthan will be a hilarious movie made as a commercial comedy entertainer. Karyasthan is expected to reach theaters as a Ramzan release in September.

Penpattanam is a woman oriented film that tells the story of Kudumbashree women. The leading roles are handled by Revathy, KPAC Lalitha, Swetha Menon and Vishnupriya.

Penpattanam is directed by VM Vinu and is produced by Maha Subair under the banner Varna Chithra Big Screen. Penpattanam's story is by Ranjith. Praveena plays an important role while Nedumudi Venu, Lal, Siddique, Abu Salim, Augustin, Sivaji Guruvayur and many others are also in the cast.

The film highlights issues of woman. Lives of four women, Girija, Shantha, Raji and Suhara, who are trying to make a living through various struggles in their lives, are depicted in this movie. These Kudumbashree workers do the garbage cleaning work in the city. These women face some unexpected things in their life.

The role of Girija is played by Revathy. Girija, a widow, struggles very hard to make ends meet with two children. KPAC Lalitha dons the role of Shantha, who has problems due to her auto driver son Biju, Vishnupriya plays the role of Raji, who is forced to live under the cruelty of her elder sister’s husband, and Suhara's role is donned by Swetha Menon, who was left alone because she married Chandran who is from another religion.

Neelathamara fame Kailash plays the role of a plumbing worker, Mani. Lal is a police officer, while Nedumudi Venu is Unnithan who is a money lender.

Kaithapram Nampoothiri and Anil Panachooran have written the lyrics for the movie while M.G. Sreekumar has composed the music. Director V M Vinu, Script Writer T.A. Razak and Ranjith come together for the first time in this movie.

Oru Naal Varum : Mohanlal, Sreenivasan teams up

Oru Naal Varum is the tale of an ordinary man who attempts to construct his dream house, but is tore down by corruption in the society. Written by competent actor-director Sreenivasan, the film is directed by T.K Rajeev Kumar. Sreenivasan-Mohanlal is back together on screen after Ividum Swargamanu.

Bollywood actress Sameera Reddy who was lately seen in Kollywood flick Vaaranam Aayiram is the heroine.

She earlier signed Malayalam film Casanova which was shelved again after reviving for the second time. Sameera was to play the role of a seductress in Casanova. The other heroines in the film were Lakshmi Rai and Roma.

In Oru Naal Varum, Miss Reddy will play the wife of Mohanlal, Her latest release Asal opposite Ajith is going well. Lal's costume in the film is Mundu and half sleeve shirt to play the common man character.

At present Mohanlal is busy shooting for Joshy's Christian Brothers in Kochi.

Sreenivasan is a genius who won't repeat himself. Let's hope this film won't be a new version of the classic movie Varavelppu and the entertaining Midhunam, both from the only genius in Malayalam film.

Oru Naal Varum, the upcoming movie by Mohanlal – Sreenivasan team is directed by T.K. Rajeev Kumar. Produced by Manian Pillai Raju, the flick has Bollywood beauty Sameera Reddy acting as Mohanlal's wife.

Mohanlal appears in the role of an ordinary man Kolappulli Sukumaran. He is in an ttempt to build his dream home and going through the process of getting approvals for his plans. Sreenivasan acts as a corrupted Assistant Town Planning Officer Gopi Krishnan.

There is a conflict between Mohanlal and Sreenivasan in the early part of the movie. Later Sukumaran finds out that Gopi Krishnan is the Town Planning Officer. Gopi Krishnan does not give approval for Sukumaran’s plans because of the previous conflicts.

The story continues through the competitions of Mohanlal and Sreenivasan. The film is scripted by Sreenivasan himself. After Udayananu Thaaram, this is the first time Mohanlal acts in a Sreenivasan scripted film.

Devayani, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Nedumudi Venu dons the other important roles in this movie.

The film produced by Manianpillai Raju under the banner Manianpillai Raju Productions and distributed by Damor Release. Oru Naal Varum will reach theaters soon.

Kites Gets Ready To Fly High

The countdown has begun and the ticket windows are already buzzing with advance bookings for Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori-starrer “Kites” that releases Friday.

Produced by Rakesh Roshan and directed by Anurag Basu, “Kites” is a mega-budget venture worth Rs.150 crore in two versions – English and Hindi. It also stars Kabir Bedi and Kangana Ranaut who makes a cameo appearance in the movie.

Releasing simultaneously on more than 2,300 screens worldwide including over 500 overseas in over 60 countries, it has been distributed by Reliance Big Pictures.

Following a phased release pattern, “Kites” will first release in India, the US, Britain, UAE, Australia, South Africa and 30 other countries Friday while in the second phase, it will release in an additional 30 countries, which include various non-traditional markets.

“It’s a very strange love story between two people because they don’t understand each other’s language or culture but as they say love and music doesn’t need any language, ‘Kites’ is just that,” Basu said.

Shot in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Santa Fe, “Kites” is a compelling romantic saga that goes beyond barriers, boundaries and cultures. A love story about an Indian man’s affair with a Latin woman and their predicament as they don’t understand each other’s language, “Kites” is about their thrilling journey filled with precious moments and unexpected betrayal.

The story starts in a harsh terrain of the Mexican desert where a mortally wounded man Jai is left to die in the heat of the scorching sun. Once a street smart, carefree young guy, he is now a wanted man.

As death looms, the only thing that keeps him alive is the quest to find the love of his life, Natasha – a woman betrothed to another man. Jay and Natasha fell in love despite language and cultural barriers and embark on an action-packed adventure of love, dance and danger across Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Mexico – an adventure that could kill them both, or bring them together forever.

The English version of the movie “Kites: The Remix” is presented and reworked by well known Hollywood director Brett Ratner, as per western sensibilities. It is releasing May 28.

Basu says both versions are however the same.

“Indian and international versions both are very similar. There’s just the length issue as the international version is little shorter otherwise both are very much the same,” said Basu.

“The Hindi version is a little over two hours (130 minutes) and the English version is one hour thirty minutes,” he added.

Not many know that “Kites” was not the final title of the movie.

“I have used ‘Kites’ as a metaphor in the film. Kites are like two lovers who fly against the wind and not with the wind, they come close and separate and how their destinies are not in their hands,” he said.

“However, we used ‘Kites’ as the working title for the film but when we got positive reactions from various people we kept it as the final one,” he added.

“Kites” had its share of controversies too like delay in release, rumours of a link-up between Hrithik and Barbara, intimate scenes between the two in the movie, climax leak rumours and creative differences between Basu and Rakesh Roshan.

“It’s all made up and cooked by media… Whatever news has come about ‘Kites’, most of it has actually been fictional stories,” said Basu.

With music composed by his uncle Rajesh Roshan, the movie also marks the singing debut of Hrithik for the title track, which has already been accepted and appreciated both by audiences and critics alike.

The movie has also had a US premiere May 16 which will be followed by another in Britain Tuesday.

With no other Bollywood release to challenge it and the unprecedented buzz it has gathered, this one just might become the first big hit of 2010.

Jayaram and Prithviraj in Shafi's film Makeup Man

Hit maker Shafi is back with Jayaram in the film Makeup Man. Incidentally the lead in Shafi's debut film One Man Show was Jayaram. Jayaram who was considered a minimum guarantee star lost his market abruptly after that. He came back to the picture two years ago with the successes of Veruthe Oru Bharya.

Shafi turned out to be a very successful director and have won accolades for every film. His first failure was Lollypop in which Prithviraaj and Roma starred. His last film Chattambi Naadu was a hit.

After Lollypop, Roma was not seen in Malayalam much. She has gone to act in a Tamil film which has not come out.

In Makeup Man Jayaram exhibits the mannerisms of makeup men he sees daily. Shooting has started in first week of April. There are two heroines in the film and Lakshmi Rai has been signed up as one of them. A new heroine is also present. Kunchakko Boban will be seen in a good role. Suraj Venjaranmoodu, Innocent and Salim Kumar are also in the cast.

Seeing the multistarrer trend Director Shafi brings Prithviraj to aid Jayaram in this comedy flick. This will be the first time they act together. Writers of film Chocolate have penned the story for this romantic drama.

Christian Brothers was to release along with Mammootty, Prithviraj starrer Pokkiri Raja on April 30

Mollywoods biggest commercial director Joshie's latest film Christian brothers, which has made news due to the high budget and star cast, was postponed to July. The budget was expected to go beyond Rs 3.5 crore which was the limit set by the producers' association. Then actor Thilakan controversy came up. The actor blamed a superstar for his ouster from this film, who was supposed to do a role in Christian Brothers.

The movie features Mohanlal, Sarath Kumar, Suresh Gopi and Dileep. The film also has Lal's Madambi pair Kavya Madhavan and milky white Lakshmi Rai. Kaniha acts for the first time with Mohanlal and Lal's favorite heroine Lakshmi Gopalaswamy is also adding glitz.

The release of this thriller has been pushed to July 9, as a song has to be picturised with Mohanlal and Lakshmi Rai in Scotland. Now the climate is not favorable to shoot their and reports are that the best time to picturise the song is May, when summer begins here.

In Christian Brothers, Mohanlal is a high profile police informer, a key figure in Mumbai, a Godfather type of role. But his family thinks he is a goon. Mohanlal and Dileep play brothers Christie and Joji. Dileep had joined seminary to become a priest but opts out after he falls in love with a girl. Kaniha and Lakshmi Gopalaswamy play their sisters. Kavya Madhavan will pair with Mohanlal. The story goes through a dozen of interesting twists and turns, according to scriptwriters Udayakrishnan and Siby K Thomas. Joshiy's last film with Siby-Udayan was blockbuster Twenty 20.

Anil Nair is the cinematographer and Deepak Dev the music director. The film is produced jointly by Varnachitra Subair and AVA Productions Anoop (Medimix). Christian Brothers was to release along with Mammootty, Prithviraj starrer Pokkiri Raja on April 30.

Pokkiriraja

Mammootty who is known for promoting talents will once again partner with Prithviraj in the movie Pollachi Raja which wa s earlier titled Pokkiri Raja. Prithvi will be seen as Mammootty�s brother in Pollachi Raja.

Mammootty played a character named Bellary Raja in the super hit Rajamanikyam. In this film mega star is getting ready to enact another Raja character, Pollachi Raja.

This is the second time Prithviraj is getting a chance to share the screen with Mammootty. Their first outing was with Bipin Prabhakar directed One-way Ticket, which didn�t fare well at the box office.

Phoonk 2

Phoonk 2 directed by debutante director Milind Gadagkar who earlier wrote Phoonk, manages to pack in more chills and thrills and keeps you terrified most of the time than the first one. A sequel works if it goes one step ahead of the first part, in terms of content mainly. But Phoonk 2 doesn't take a step forward, but a step backwards. The idea is a master stroke and had writer turned director Milind Gadagkar handled it right, Phoonk 2 would've scared the daylights out of you. But the film looks incomplete and the viewer keeps wondering, where did the spirit disappear?

Phoonk ended with Madhu (Ashwini Kalsekar) who practices black magic on Rajiv's (Sudeep) family getting killed by tantrik Manja (Zakir Hussain). Phoonk 2 begins with some time having passed by since then. The old granny has gone off to a tirth yaatra and Rajiv takes his family to a vacation at his newly purchased beach house in Alibaug. But little does he know that his troubles have not really ended but multiplied in fact.

Dead Madhu's ghost comes to haunt his family. Her spirit enters Rajiv's wife Aarti's (Amruta Khanwilkar) body. It aims to kill all those people who are dear to Rajiv including his daughter Raksha (Ahsaas Channa) and sister Arushi (Neeru) who has come down from the US with her hubby Ronnie (Amit Sadh). How Rajiv fights back Madhu and the life threat on his near and dear ones forms the rest of the film.

Acting wise, Sudeep yet again did a right job as a helpless father. Amruta Kahnvilkar is excellent in a difficult role. Ahsaas Channa is a bit irritated. The little boy playing her brother is good Neeru Singh and Amit Sadh don't get much scope. Ashwini Kalsekar is just superb. She succeeds in scaring the daylights out of you yet again. Jeeva playing the tantric is effective in his small part.

On the whole, Phoonk 2 is a film with a good idea but suffers due to its weak writing. Not a good film to spend your time and money on it.

Singam, Surya as police officer

This is Surya’s time, what ever he does get made into big successes. His films which were dubbed into Telgu are making pots of money to producers.

After his films Vaaranam Aayiram and Ayan, Suriya is teaming up with Hari to don a police officer for his 25th film.

Story of Singam revolves around smuggling activities taking place in Rameshwaram. Suriya plays a cop after Khaaka Khaaka and the film is expected to have the right mix of sentiments and comedy like all Hari films.

For the director too it will be second police story after his blockbuster Saamy with Vikram. Hari had earlier directed Suriya's Aaru in 2005 and Vel in 2007. Hari’s latest offering was Seval with Bharath.

Singam will have Tollywood beauty Anushka Shetty in the female lead. Anushka made her debut in Tamil Cinema with Madhavan’s Rendu. Notable thing is she also is pairing up with Vijay in Vettaikaaran. The other cast includes Prakash Raj and Vivek.

Devi Sri Prasad scores music and Priyan wields camera. VT Vijayan is the editor and K. Kathir is Art director.

The first schedule is to be completed in Tirunelveli, Ambasamudram, Kutralam, Karaikudi and Thuthukudi and the second schedule in Chennai, Hyderabad and Vizagapatnam.

The film is being produced by Gnanavelraja under the banner Studio Green and BIG Pictures. Studio Green has earlier made Sillunnu Oru Kaadhal and Paruthiveeran.

Singam will mark the entry of Reliance Big Pictures in Tamil Cinema.

Tum Milo Toh Sahi is about how these ordinary people find their true calling in life by saving an old Irani caf against all forces that stand against us and our traditions.

Produced by Nikhil Panchammiya, the film is about three couples played by Dimple Kapadia-Nana Patekar, Suniel Shetty-Vidya Malvade and Anjana Sukhani-Rehan Khan. "Tum Milo Toh Sahi is a film about human victory, when ordinary people come together to combine their strengths and stand by what they believe in," Sadanand had been quoted as saying.

Directed by Kabir Sadanand, the film has music by Sandesh Shandilya. Tracklist include Tum Milo Toh Sahi, O Janemann, Bekhauf Mohabbat, Chal Haath Mila, Loot and I Am Bad.

Tum Milo Toh Sahi is not just a romantic comedy...it is three unique romantic stories in one. Set in modern-day Mumbai, with all the demands and pressures of city life, the film weaves together the lives of three couples who connect with each other through a series of touching and hilarious moments, sometimes just over a simple cup of coffee.

Movie : Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai

Tara is from Venus and she crash lands on Earth looking for love. She befriends a born loser who is extremely unlucky in finding love and he helps her in her quest of finding true love. he movie casts Ritesh Deshmukh, Jaqueline Fernandes, and Farah Khan. The film will hit the theatres on 9 April 2010.

The album offers four originals and two remixes. It opens with "Keh do zara this" with Rashid Ali behind the mike. The song is an amalgamation of English and Hindi lyrics. It would have made a better impact on the listeners if the lyrics had been written in one language. The love ballad fails to generate interest.

Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai gives a little more than what one expected from the album. A short and sweet album with just four songs, it has most things going right for it with the number 'Keh Do Zara' having a timeless quality to it.

The story begins with a new English Teacher Rahul Prakash Udyavar( Shahid Kapoor) joining Swaraswati Vidya Mandir school, situated in the outskirts of Mumbai Suburbs. Though he strikes instant rapport with students and teachers alike, he realizes that there is something amiss in the school.

Paathshaala is a 2010 Bollywood film that stars Shahid Kapoor, Ayesha Takia,Ali Haji and Nana Patekar and is directed by Milind Ukey. The film revolves around kids set in a school campus.

Movie : Phoonk 2

PHOONK 2 is a Horror film which is written directed by debutant Milind Gadagkar, it is a sequel to Varma's 2008 hit film Phoonk and stars Sudeep, Amruta Khanvilkar and Ahsaas Channa.


PHOONK 2 : The viewer who will claim that he would not get scared will be fitted with an ECG machine while he is watching PHOONK 2 which will monitor his heartbeat and pulse rate and this will be shown live on a screen outside the theatre to both the Media and all concerned," states the team of PHOONK 2.

Movie : Housefull

House Full is an upcoming Bollywood Indian film directed by Sajid Khan and starring Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Lara Dutta, Jiah Khan, Ritesh Deshmukh and Arjun Rampal. Boman Irani and Randhir Kapoor play important supporting roles in the film. Malaika Arora Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez will have special appearences in the film.

Housefull : Like most XL-sized entertainers with modest brains yet abundant gimmicks, Sajid Khan's Housefull, too, has tons to offer. Scheduled for an April 30 release, Housefull is about a guy caught in a curious, comic situation wherein all his three wives share the same roof owing to some inexplicable mix-up and how it triggers off a series of wacky events. Meanwhile its soundtrack Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, against Sameer and Amitabh Bhattacharya's lyrics, is out in the stores.
